New company structure and new board of directors - ensuring continued growth
Challenges to overcome
Since opening in 2019, Funga Farm has enjoyed great success and a steadily increasing growth curve. But with the company's success came the need for a better financial structure and an injection of new capital.
About the task
The TOC partnership, who were already advising Jason Matthew Renwick, owner of the ARK-Collection vegan restaurants, saw an obvious opportunity to unite the two companies. The vegan restaurants were looking for a supplier of mushrooms that was both stable and high quality, and Funga Farm needed more muscle to continue to grow - in other words, the two companies were the perfect match.
Results
A new, strong board of directors has been established and the ownership structure has changed. In addition, a growth plan for the company has been laid out.
About Funga Farm
Funga Farm produces exclusive organic mushrooms and was founded in 2019. Behind the company is American entrepreneur Thomas Kyle Cometta, who came to Denmark from California via his Danish marriage. He is a nature lover and after exploring the Danish forests, he discovered the amazing variety of mushrooms available in Denmark. Therefore, he decided to make the mushrooms available, initially to Copenhageners. Today, the company has 15-20 regular restaurant customers and produces 200-250 kilos of mushrooms per week. Demand for the mushrooms is now so high that the company has just moved to brand new and larger production facilities in Brøndby.
I was introduced to TOC by my business partner before we publicised our collaboration. TOC and their partners helped us formalise our new business partnership and handled the various legal procedures for us. I founded Funga Farm in 2019. Funga Farm supplies organic, high-quality mushrooms to our local market. As a foreigner in Denmark, having people from TOC with me throughout the process has been a great help. We are now expanding our production and developing our concept further, and we are confident that we have the right tools to be successful in the future.
